DELAWARE 87ERS TO HOST SERVICE APPRECIATION NIGHT PRESENTED BY DELAWARE CITIZEN CORPS ON FRIDAY
WILMINGTON, DE – JANUARY 18, 2018 – The Delaware 87ers will host Service Appreciation Night presented by Delaware Citizen Corps on Friday, Jan. 19, when the team takes on the Long Island Nets at 7 p.m. ET.
Sevens players will wear special-themed jerseys that will be auctioned off to fans to benefit the American Red Cross-Delmarva. Additionally, all fans who purchase tickets to the game using the promo code CITIZENCORPS here will receive 15 percent off tickets, and 20 percent of all tickets bought using the promo code will also be donated to American Red Cross-Delmarva.
After the first quarter, a special jersey presentation will take place on the court to recognize individuals from American Red Cross-Delmarva, Delaware Citizen Corps, Wilmington Office of Emergency Management (OEM) and New Castle County Office of Emergency Management (OEM).
To help prepare fans for even the smallest emergencies, all fans in attendance will receive Delaware Citizen Corps-branded bandage dispensers. Delaware Citizen Corps will also present a “disaster relay” on the court, in which two lucky fans will compete in an obstacle-style race while dribbling a ball up and down the court.
Throughout the game, there will be representatives from Delaware Citizen Corps/Delaware Emergency Management Agency, Wilmington OEM, New Castle County OEM, Delaware State Fire School’s Camp Fury, State of Delaware Veterans Response Team, University of Delaware Center for Disability Studies, Delaware Division of Public Health-Office of Preparedness, American Red Cross-Delmarva and the Delaware Medical Reserve Corps located in the KidZone. Fans can visit their tables to learn from experts on how to be prepared for emergencies.
At every 87ers home game throughout the season, Delaware Citizen Corps presents one family with an emergency preparedness kit at center court that contains vital resources such as a flashlight, batteries, first aid supplies, emergency blanket, glow stick and water. Fans can also find Delaware Citizen Corps at their table in the KidZone most games, where they display useful information on how to proceed in certain emergencies.
