ERIE, PA – The Delaware 87ers (26-24) dropped their final game of the season to the Erie BayHawks (14-36) 115-78.

The Sevens were outscored 34-25 in the first period and failed to generate a comeback the rest of the way. Roscoe Smith led the team in scoring with 18 points on 8-of-13 from the field.

Shane Edwards (17) and Mikh McKinney (11) also topped the 10-point plateau for Delaware. The Sevens never scored more than 26 points in a quarter and allowed Erie to earn two 30-point periods.

The BayHawks played nine men and all finished with at least eight points. Seven of Erie’s players ended up in double figures. The team was led by Shevon Thompson, who poured in 21 off the bench.

Though the Sevens missed the playoffs, they wrapped up the regular season with by far their most wins since moving to Delaware four years ago. After winning 12 games during their inaugural season, the 87ers have won 20, 21 and now 26 games over the course of the past three campaigns.

It was a tough way for Delaware to end the season, primarily because the squad fell on Friday night and was knocked out of the playoff hunt. The Sevens will try to break through and earn their first playoff appearance next season.
