SEVENS’ HOME OPENER TONIGHT TO AIR LIVE
WILMINGTON, DE – NOVEMBER 6, 2017 – The Delaware 87ers today announced a television broadcast partnership with NBC Sports Philadelphia for the 2017-18 NBA G League season. Four games are scheduled to broadcast on NBC Sports Philadelphia+ (NBCSP+) including Opening Night tonight, November 6 vs. Westchester; November 21 vs. Wisconsin Herd; December 27 vs. Raptors 905 and January 19 vs. Long Island.
All games this season will also stream on Facebook LIVE. The 87ers ranked third in the league in Facebook LIVE viewership during the 2016-17 season, attracting over 1 million unique viewers across the globe throughout the 50-game season. Dei Lynam, Tom McGinnis, Brian Seltzer and Varun Raghupathi are set to return to the television booth this season for the Sevens.
Lynam returns to the Sevens for her second season in Delaware, where she will handle color analyst duties in addition to pre- and post-game team interviews. A familiar, friendly face to basketball fans throughout the region, Lynam has covered the Philadelphia 76ers since 1997. Having won a national Emmy Award for an NBA promotional spot, Dei was also a winner for a memorial piece on Wilt Chamberlain and a series called “Mind Body and Soul” and has been recognized numerous times for her Sixers coverage. With broadcast stints in Madison, Wisconsin and Cincinnati, Ohio, Lynam has worked as a sports anchor and reporter, covering the sidelines for college basketball and football. She played basketball, cross country, track and softball while attending high schools in suburban Philadelphia and Oregon. Lynam ventured down the West Coast for college, graduating from UCLA in 1989 with a degree in psychology.
McGinnis is in the midst of his 23rd season as the voice of the Sixers Radio Network. While handling all the play-by-play on-air, he also serves as the 76ers Director of Radio Broadcasting. In addition, McGinnis hosts numerous Sixers events and community relations efforts in the offseason. In 2014, McGinnis was named Pennsylvania Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA). McGinnis, who grew up in Spring Valley, Illinois, received a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Northern Illinois University in 1984. He played guard his first two years in college at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. A three-sport standout in high school, McGinnis was recently inducted into the Saint Bede Academy Athletic Hall of Fame. Prior to joining the Sixers for the 1995-96 season, McGinnis recorded 13 years of broadcasting experience, including seven years at local television stations, four years of play-by-play in the CBA with the Cedar Rapids Silver Bullets (1989-90) and LaCrosse Catbirds (1990-93) and two years calling minor league hockey games with the Cleveland Lumberjacks and the South Carolina Stingrays.
Seltzer has served as SIXERS.COM’s beat reporter since the start of the 2015-16 season and is entering his sixth season hosting the pre-game and post-game shows on the Sixers Radio Network. Seltzer currently co-hosts the “Sixers in 60” radio program on 97.5 FM The Fanatic. His previous play-by-play experience includes University of Pennsylvania men’s basketball (2005-15) and football (2008-15) and Reading Phillies baseball (2010-12).
Raghupathi is entering his second year calling games for the 87ers. In addition, he contributes content throughout the year for the team’s website and social media accounts. Raghupathi is a 2016 graduate of Syracuse University, where he did play-by-play for basketball games on WAER, the school’s NPR affiliate.
